Owner Experience: What Real Drivers Say

1532331
14,000km

What they liked

Took parents who had never seen the sea to the coast during free highway period. No range anxiety. Cheap to run.

What they disliked

Named "Intelligent Driving Version" but has no actual ADAS - just regular cruise control. Semi-LCD instrument cluster feels low-end. Name is misleading.

MyHappyLife0803
4,100km

What they liked

No range anxiety. Forgot to charge sometimes, switch to hybrid, depleted battery fuel use just over 4L/100km - half of previous gas car. Exterior looks good.

What they disliked

No high-level ADAS, only basic cruise control. No portable charger included.

Matecha3338
9,140km

What they liked

16km daily commute covered by pure electric. Home charger fills up at about 15kWh cost a few RMB. Very cheap daily use.

What they disliked

Interior hard plastic feels cheap on center console and door panels. Strong new-car odor, took two weeks with charcoal bags to fade.

4,200km

What they liked

Bought September 2025, low price, lower running cost than pure gasoline car. Overall satisfied.

What they disliked

High beam okay but low beam not bright enough, no lens optimization so light scatters. Highway experience poor, tire noise loud.

Lu'an_7610974
5,647km

What they liked

Saves money and worry, can run on electric or fuel anywhere. Pure electric for commute costs almost nothing, long trips just add gas.

What they disliked

Too much hard plastic inside, no premium feel. Highway wind and tire noise loud, need to raise voice to talk. Seats not comfortable on long drives.

GrasslandWolf2018
8,739km

What they liked

Commuting very cheap, electricity under 200 RMB per month. If it were a gas car would cost much more.

What they disliked

A-pillar too wide, blocks sightlines when turning, large blind spot, must slow down to pass safely.

Driving experience

What Is the BYD Qin Plus Like to Drive?

I think the driving experience is pretty good, and I would rate it above 4.4 with the air-conditioner on and full-load acceleration. The low-speed motor delivers snappy acceleration. Transitioning from gasoline-powered driving feels very smooth. The steering-wheel weight is moderate, easy to handle. The brake pedal is highly responsive, which matters most.

  • Powerful Power Output
  • Smooth Gear-shifting
  • Strong Acceleration
  • Robust Off-the-line Torque
  • Smooth Low-speed Performance
  • Adequate Power in Sport Mode

  • Spacious Front-row Headroom
  • Generous Trunk Volume
  • Adequate Rear-legroom
  • Well-designed Storage Space
  • Decent Cup-holder
  • Cramped Central-control Storage Compartment

Exterior Design: What Owners Think

I went for the white version. Though its design is somewhat mainstream, I quite like it. Body lines are smooth with no other obvious flaws, giving a comfortable visual impression.

  • Well-styled Front Fascia
  • Attractive Front-end Look
  • Stunning Taillight Design
  • Sporty Body Profile
  • Exquisite Waist-line Styling
  • Nice-looking Wheel-rim Design

Interior & Cabin Experience

For me, given such a low price, the interior is acceptable and satisfactory. The air-conditioning performs excellently and can cool down the cabin rapidly when turned up high.

  • Well-designed Central-control Panel
  • Large-sized Central-control Screen
  • Well-laid-out Instrument Panel
  • Good-quality Seat Material
  • Fingerprints Easily Left on Central-control Screen

Technology

BYD Qin Plus Smart Features Reviews

This is a drawback. Its intelligence level is rather low, even for the smart-driving version. App remote control can lock and unlock doors and pre-heat the vehicle. Smart charging and Bluetooth remote voice interaction work fine for simple operations, yet it slows down for slightly complex tasks.

  • Good Advanced-driver-assistance Performance
  • Decent Safety Configuration
  • Reliable Navigation System
  • Good Voice-recognition Function
  • Good Cruise Control Performance
  • No Support for CarPlay

Range & charging

Real-World Efficiency & Range Reviews

Mine is the 55-km version. It can reach 50 km in summer and even over 50 km. The range performance is acceptable. I seldom refuel and the original oil has not been used up. It runs purely on electricity most of the time. In winter the real-world range drops and a little gasoline will be consumed. Overall it is quite fuel-saving. The indicated range is basically reliable, with only minor deviation.
